Author event with Scarlet Keys author of The Craft of Songwriting

Parnassus Books welcomes Scarlet Keys author of The Craft of Songwriting.

The Craft of Songwriting: Music, Meaning and Emotion is full accessible techniques and theory that songwriters of every level need.  Every note, every chord, every rhythmic choice you make as a songwriter, and every moment you play or don’t play, brings a distinctive emotional imprint to your song.  This book shows you in short and effective examples along with audio, how these choices affect the story you are telling and how you can turn up the emotional volume on your songwriting.  You will learn how to make informed and conscious choices with the music that you write so that your songs have the most impact possible.

Scarlet Keys has been a Professor in the Songwriting department of the Berklee College of Music for the past 16 years, and is a former staff writer for Warner Chappell Music Publishing.

Her songs have been recorded by artists spanning the genres of Americana, jazz, country, pop and folk both in the United Stated and in Sweden. She has had a gold record, a number #1 song in Britain, and songs appearing in film, t.v. and national commercials.

She continues to write, perform and teach both at Berklee and songwriting clinics across the U.S. and mentoring up and coming artists while continuing to write and perform herself.
