Author event with Jill Alexander Essbaum, author of Hausfrau

Parnassus Books is thrilled to welcome Jill Alexander Essbaum for a discussion and signing of her new book, Hausfrau. This event will take place at The Skillery at 7:00pm.

Anna Benz, an American woman in her thirties, lives in comfort and affluence with her Swiss banker husband and their three young children in a picture-perfect suburb of Zurich. Despite the tranquility and order of her domestic existence, Anna is falling apart. In an effort to restart her life, she turns to Jungian analysis, German language classes, and a series of extramarital affairs, whose consequences she cannot foretell.

Jill Alexander Essbaum is the author of several collections of poetry and her work has appeared in The Best American Poetry, as well as its sister anthology, The Best American Erotic Poems, 1800-Present. She is the winner of the Bakeless Poetry Prize and recipient of two NEA literature fellowships. A member of the core faculty at the University of California, Riverside‚Äôs Palm Desert Low-Residency MFA program, she lives in Austin, Texas.
