Parnassus Books welcomes George Wilkerson author of Driving Nashville.
George Wilkerson is the author of a memoir You Don’t Know the Half of It a selection of short stories Me & Bobbie & the Girls and a number of plays and newspaper and magazine articles. He also has written trade books, textbooks, and reference manuals, and has won awards for his marketing brochures and fliers.
George was the first Academic Dean of Austin Community College where he also taught classes in composition and literature and developed Texas' first online college writing program.
He also was one of the original writers and performers in Ester's Follies, a comedy and music revue in Austin, but in 1980 moved into the more humorous business world, writing and editing end-user documentation and computer-supported training for Dell Computers, IBM, and the Shell Petroleum Corporation in Nigeria.
In 1998 he returned to the land of his birth, New York, where he worked as a proposal writer at General Electric's Global Research Center and then as a technical editor at the Knowles Atomic Power Laboratory.
In 2008, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he now teaches part-time at Columbia State Community College and still drives off-and-on for a rideshare company.
He counts five terrific grandchildren as his greatest success.
