Author event with Annette Valentine author of Eastbound From Flagstaff

Parnassus Books welcomes Annette Valentine author of Eastbound From Flagstaff.

Eastbound From Flagstaff, a 1920s epic that illumines the human condition in its ideological indifference to God and asks the question, “Why was God silent when I needed him?”

Annette advocates for victims and survivors of human trafficking and speaks in public forums, raising awareness on issues, which might preclude the joy of abundant life.

She is a graduate of Purdue University and has transitioned from a 34-year career as a professional interior designer to fiction writer. Her design expertise went from the White House to Habitat For Humanity housing to the house next door - in reverse order with everything imaginable in between.

In her debut novel, Eastbound From Flagstaff, Annette portrays the young Simon Hagan’s stouthearted search for meaning as life plays out in Prohibition’s Mafioso drama. The saga follows a high road of abrupt turns where Simon’s alternatives pit themselves against his father’s tutelage. Given the love of his life and a career that is surpassing his dreams, Simon has control. And then he doesn’t.

An inspirational storyteller with a flair for the unexpected, Annette spent her early years in middle Tennessee immersed in Nancy Drew mysteries and her growing up years in east Tennessee inspired by authors from children’s books to World War II history. She writes through the varied lens of colorful experience and the absorbing reality of man’s search for meaning. She and her husband live in Brentwood.
