Join us in welcoming Kathy Moses and Bruce Shelton for a discussion and signing of their book Helen LaFrance Folk Art Memories. This beautiful book focuses on the life and work of a self-taught Southern artist whose specialty is visually recording a fast-disappearing way of life. Born in western Kentucky in 1919, LaFrance is the rare artist who is able to work deftly in more than one medium. She is an exceptional painter, quilter, wood carver, and Biblical interpreter. However, her real skill is her ability to connect with the viewer emotionally through the memories they both share. She paints scenes of a time and place that so many of us can respond to.
